Will battery-electric vehicles reach 25% of Australia’s new-vehicle sales in 2027?
Will battery-electric vehicles account for at least 25% of all new motor vehicles sold in Australia during calendar year 2027?
Count battery-electric vehicles only; do not count conventional hybrids or plug-in hybrids as battery-electric vehicles.
How the result is decided
YES if the total battery-electric vehicle sales divided by total new-vehicle sales for January–December 2027 is at least 25%, using the FCAI VFACTS annual data or its monthly data summed consistently. Use FCAI’s latest revised data available by 31 March 2028. Exclude conventional hybrids and plug-in hybrids from the battery-electric numerator.
